Hellenic American Academy Endowment Trust

Dear Parents:

            We are elated to inform you of our 2008 distribution to the Hellenic American Academy of $52,000.  Thus far, we have been able to grow our donation each year to this year’s unprecedented level.

            Lately, our donors are asking for more specific answers to where our funds are being used. In response to their questions we had asked the prior chairperson for input as to the needs of the academy. It was recommended that we meet with Mr. Anderson; such a meeting took place in early June.

            The meeting was informative and we are happy to hear about future plans for updates to the curriculum and investment into the staff. This year we have chosen several avenues in which we are requesting our funds be directed, all of these derived through the needs expressed to the Endowment through Mr. Anderson.

· $6000 towards the completion of the computer lab update ($5000 from last year’s distribution was redirected towards this cause, in honor of Erene Koukias).

· $4500 towards the hiring of a part-time librarian. It is asked that this become a budget item for the academy in the future, as we will not necessarily choose to make this allocation annually.

· $14,000 towards the purchase of a new Language Arts curriculum for grades K-3.

· $3,800 towards the purchase of “Science Kits”.

· $2000 towards professional development for the staff.

· $5000 towards providing stipends to staff performing specific extracurricular activities to the students.

· $10,000 towards the process of accreditation

· $6700 towards the salaries of staff
