WELCOME TO THE OURANIA BEHRAKIS LIBRARY

On January 9th 2004, the Hellenic American Academy unveiled its newly renovated library media center in honor of the late Ms. Ourania Behrakis, a Lowell area Philanthropist and graduate of the School. Ms. Behrakis was a very vibrant person, she believed in family, religion, Hellenism and education. She was very active in the life of the school and the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and became the first woman president of the church council in 1994.

MISSION STATEMENT

Our Mission is to prepare our students to be productive, informed and concerned citizens in a society which is information driven. We wish to motivate and encourage our students to make learning a part of their whole life. They will be encouraged to be ethical users of information, supporters of intellectual freedom, develop an appreciation of literature and love of reading, appreciate diversity and develop tolerance for differing points of view. We will aid them in acquiring the analytical and critical skills and strategies necessary in a challenging world.

TECHNOLOGY AND COMPUTER LAB

Our Technology and Computer Lab consists of state-of-the-art networked computers, two printers, a scanner, a digital camera and Internet access.

The Hellenic American Academy offers an excellent computer curriculum including: Keyboarding, Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Databases, Graphics, Computer Knowledge (i.e., hardware vs. software, etc.), as well as Internet skills such as: Research, Web Page Design, Internet Safety, etc.

Students are also taught multimedia skills such as: how to use CD-ROM/DVD Drives, Scanners, Digital Cameras, etc.

Finally, students are taught how to integrate all of their computer skills together to obtain the results they require.
